You may encounter disease-carrying insects and animals in the following holiday destinations. 

Austria

Attention Danger of ticks!  In Austria, you can become infected with Lyme disease or TBE while hiking or camping.

Croatia

Attention Ticks in northern Croatia! 

Vaccination recommended: Hiking in the north of Croatia? Then vaccinate against TBE!

Tick protection: Wear long clothing and check for ticks after every outing.

Italy

Attention Mosquitoes: Dengue fever

Vaccination is currently not possible, Mosquito repellent but important:

Long clothing, Mosquito nets, Mosquito repellent

Also protects against other mosquito-borne diseases.

Greece

West Nile fever possible through mosquito bites.

There is no vaccination against West Nile fever. You can only protect yourself against mosquito bites: Use mosquito repellent, wear long clothing and be especially careful at dawn and dusk!

Turkey

Attention Rabies!

Avoid contact with stray dogs and cats. The disease can be caused by Bites and is almost always fatal.

Vaccination recommended:   For travelling to Turkey the rabies vaccination is recommended, especially for Children and "pet lovers".

Vaccinations for adults

We also offer vaccinations against TBE and HPV for adults! 

The HPV vaccination is free from 9-30 years until the end of 2025.

For people aged between 21 and 30, the following applies: the first vaccination in the free catch-up vaccination programme can be given until 31.12.2025. Second vaccinations in the catch-up vaccination programme are free of charge until 30.06.2026.
